The Door Activation Switch is an essential component in Hotpoint, Creda, Indesit Cannon tumble dryers. Its primary function is to ensure the proper functioning and safety of the dryer by detecting whether the door is securely closed or open.

When the dryer door is closed, the Door Activation Switch detects this and allows the dryer to start and operate. It sends a signal to other components of the dryer, such as the motor or heating element, to begin functioning. This ensures that no potentially hazardous situations occur when the door is open.

If for any reason, such as a faulty latch or misalignment of the door, it does not close properly or remains open during operation, the Door Activation Switch will detect this and prevent operation. This safety feature prevents accidents like injury from rotating drums or exposure to hot air.

Additionally, if during a drying cycle someone opens the door while it’s running, this switch will instantly cut off power supply to avoid any mishaps like burns from hot air escaping.
